GSTAAD

Gstaad is the ultra chic ski resort which is mostly known for its glamorous après-ski and those who don’t ski. Located in Bern Canton, it teems with the beautiful people who make it famous as one of the most exclusive resorts in Switzerland.

During the peak season such as Christmas the highlight is the parade of elegant men, women, the wannabes and the gawkers along the Promenade – the Bond Street of London or Madison Avenue in New York. The luxury brands are showcased in carefully renovated century-old chalets which is a signature of Gstaad and several other villages in Saanenland. The  village is easily recognisable because the fairy tale Gstaad Palace watches over it.

Gstaad has welcomed A-listers ever since the playboy Gunter Sachs and Brigette Bardot walked their dog down the Promenade in 1967. It’s the home of Roman Polanski, Valentino and Dame Julie Andrews, who was made an honorary citizen in 2014.

The region has several chalet villages alongside Gstaad, located at an altitude of between 1,000 and 1,400 metres. Yet despite its style and class, Gstaad has remained genuinely Alpine and down-to-earth. It is proud of its tradition and lives and breathes it every day.

Over a thousand cultural and sporting events are available to visitors every year, including top events with an international reputation. In addition, visitors will find first-class hotels, outstanding shopping facilities along the traffic-free promenade and an airport in Saanen.
